The aim of this workshop is to introduce candidates to the theory and practice of reflective practice and to offer guidance and instruction as to how existing models of reflective practice can be applied to the development of sport and exercise scientists.
Learning outcomes of the workshop:
- Identify how different types of knowledge can be developed through reflective practice
- Appreciate and apply different theoretical models of reflective practice
- Utilise reflective practice as a tool for self-development
- Record and evidence their use of reflective practice
To limit the ‘online’ time and to allow for discussions in the workshops there will be pre-Workshop tasks and self directed resources. You should set aside around 2 or 3 hours of your time to ensure that they are completed before joining the online session. These will be sent a week prior to the workshop.

1.5.1 Current Issues in the Professional Practice of Sport & Exercise Psychology
2.6.3 Select and assess elements of consultant effectiveness appropriate to the role, consultancy expectations and service deliverables
3.2.1 Analyse their own strengths and weaknesses and identify areas for personal development
3.2.2 Understand the value of reflection on practice and evidence engagement in the process
3.2.3 Demonstrate a commitment to, and engagement with, professional development through continuing advancement of own knowledge, understanding and competence
This workshop also contributes to some extent to the following SEPAR Competencies:
