Speed Up Rehabilitation, Reduce Mechanical Load, Improve Mobility & Strength: Anti-Gravity Treadmill
Under the guidance of your physiotherapist, the anti-gravity treadmill is proven to aid in progressive rehabilitation and recovery.
The anti-gravity treadmill helps you to walk or run further with less stress on the lower body joints and muscles, helping you return to normal training.
The anti-gravity treadmill gives the user the ability to accurately measure progress to achieve personal goals. Unlike the simple lift harness devices, the AlterG® anti-gravity treadmill provides precise unweighting in 1% increments to as low as 20% of body mass. This reduces the mechanical load to the user’s lower body and can lead to improved mobility and strength.
The unique technology allows for normal gait and balance unlike hydrotherapy or harnesses providing superior weight-supported walking and running.
During the first visit the user will be instructed on the anti-gravity treadmill set up, use and safety procedures.
Any support personnel will need to attend an induction prior to the first session.
The user will be provided with some shorts and will be enclosed in the cockpit. The anti-gravity treadmill is then calibrated to the user’s individual body mass so that mechanical load can be reduced. The anti-gravity treadmill is used like a standard treadmill with speed and incline controlled from a console:
Speeds: Forwards – 0-12 mph (19.3 km/hr), Reverse – 0-3 mph (4.8 km/hr)
Incline: 0-15%
It is expected that the user will bring the programme, devised by their Physiotherapist or Coach, that will be performed during the session(s).
We can provide supervision to optimise the rehabilitation opportunity (‘Supported’ session) or sessions can be supported by an individual you bring (‘Unsupported’ session). Please note it is not possible to use the anti-gravity treadmill unsupervised.
Individuals supporting your session(s) need to be inducted, which costs £30.00 and needs to be booked separately.
Use of the anti-gravity treadmill is booked in blocks of time. Single sessions can be bought, or they can be purchased in packages.
